You can spend directly from any Jar by linking it to your card before you spend. Just tap on the Jar, press Link, and that Jar will now be where your money comes from when you use your card.
If you’re spending with one of our merchants and you have HMoney with them in a Jar, the HMoney gets spent first automatically. If you don’t have enough HMoney to cover the cost, it will dip into any cash you have in the Jar to make up the difference and any extra money will come out of your Wallet (although see the details on setting a Backup, below). And if there's not enough in the Wallet to cover the spending, the transaction won't go through: you can never be overdrawn with HyperJar.
Whether you want to spend from one of your Jars or your Wallet, you can also choose a Backup. A Backup is handy for when you don’t have enough money in a Jar that’s linked to your card to cover the whole amount. For example - you are buying something that costs £10, and your card is linked to a Groceries Jar, which has a balance of £5. Choose one of your other Jars as Backup and the remaining £5 will come from there.
To setup a Backup, tap the Jar you want to have a Backup payment source, tap the settings cog in the top right corner and tap on Backup source and select from options. If there is no Backup source tap “Use a backup payment source” to activate and select your option.
